PATCHES (Tuffys Wondergirl) APHA # 595,015 Foaled April 02, 2000
A beautiful sorrel tobiano mare with gentle eyes and patient attitude, she stands 15 hands tall, is smooth riding and sweeter than the day is long, 'Patches' is a great mount for a beginner, intermediate, experienced rider or just about anyone for that matter. Believe me, if you can sit in a saddle, you can ride this mare.
Patches works calmly at a walk, trot, lope and stops easily. She neck reins, knows her leg cues and will even let the little ones plow rein her (pulling on the left or right rein to steer the horse). You won't ever have to worry about her running off and scaring beginner riders because Patches prefers to be a little on the laid back side. She would prefer to take her time enjoying the scenery with you at an easy walk. Don't get me wrong she will get up and go with just a gentle squeeze of your legs, she's just not going to take off running for no reason.
Gentle and loving, Patches catches easily (since she walks up to you for attention anyway). She also halters, leads, stands tied quietly, bathes quietly, bridles like a dream, stands for saddling and for the farrier as well.
Since last July this mare a 10 year old girl and her friends have taken Patches on those long Labor Day and holiday trail rides, ridden along the highway as well as down trails and across creeks. Patches has also done various playday events, but she doesn't have the drive or speed needed to become a really good barrel horse. However, she would be perfect for a little one (or adult) who are learning to ride or someone who wants to compete but needs to build some confidence.
Calm, patient and forgiving to beginners, Patches would make a great family or kid horse and is definitely 'husband safe' (No offense meant). To see her in action, please check out her video at the bottom of this page.
