Phil Augustyn
In Loving Memory of Phil Augustyn
On the afternoon of Monday, August 14th, 2006, I received a call from my oldest daughter. It seems that a great
tragedy has occurred…….my son-in-law’s father, Phil Augustyn had passed away.

Since last year when the death of a family member came so close to my heart, I don't worry about the how’s and why’
s of a person’s death……but instead I've learned to rejoice on the living they’ve done and the things that they’ve
accomplished while here with the people that they love. So, here goes…..a toast…..

*raises glass*

Really don’t know where to start….

*teary eyed, she continues*

A toast to Phil Augustyn……..Loving father, husband and friend….I don’t know what we’ll do without you…
Mom will be lost….

*sniffle*

The boys aren’t handling this well at all, but I have faith in them.
They’ll be there for Mom when the time comes……and they know that our prayers are with them…..

The saddest part is the little ones will grow up never again hearing their grandfather laugh, or have him bounce them on
his knee as they giggle joyfully……There is so much that needs to be said, but this is neither the time nor place….

So, in closing, let me just say......You were a good man Phil. And although you’ve been a part of my family for only a
few short years, I feel a great sorrow in your passing….You were taken from us long before any of us were ready for
you to leave…..May you find happiness where ever you are…

*drinks down glass of rum*

Best damn toast I’ve ever done……
