This is one mare that I can definitely say was chosen for her looks. One cool
October morning while taking a morning ride at the Medicine Springs Ranch in
Oklahoma, we passed by the catch pens by the old cabin. As I looked over at the
horses in the pen, my gaze settled on a little one huddled close to it's
momma....the sight froze me in my tracks. Could this be? Surely it couldn't
be....for I swear that this little one was Saint reborn. I told Buttons what I saw in the
filly, we dismounted and entered the catch pen to get a closer look. Her markings
were exactly the same as Saint's, but they were so close that it was scary.

For those of you who haven't known me for that long, I'll explain. Saint was a paint
horse that I had for several years....wait...to say she was my horse would just be
wrong. Saint was was my best friend. She went everywhere I went....literally. If I
was at the ranch, she was beside me. It didn't matter if I was building fences,
hanging gates, mowing the pasture or just sitting in the yard...Saint was always
with me, grazing within arms reach. Don't let that trailer pull outta that pasture
without her, for there would be hell to pay! If I was gonna take that trailer, she was
gonna be in it!

After talking with Mr. Rickman, Buttons purchased both the mare and filly. We still
had a few details to work out, but they were ours. Later that night around the
campfire, Buttons told me that the little black and white filly was mine. He had
bought her as a gift to me. She had reminded me so much of the best friend that I
lost so many years ago that he just had to buy her. Who knows, maybe she is
Saint...ready to be with me again. But if this little girls' gonna try to take Saint's
place, she's got one big set of shoes to fill. But then again, I guess only time will
tell.

2011 FOAL
Black & White Tobiano Paint Mare
With White Mane, Black Tail, Four High White Stockings & Black Hooves
Registered AIHR O-3737 / HOA 1709 / SSMA 2366
Standing 14.1 hands
Foaled: August 15th, 2001
Flash, a very pretty little tobiano filly with some very strange markings, Flash sports a white
mane, a black tail, a body that is mainly black, four high white stockings and tough black
feet. If that's not enough, she has an upside down number one on her hip, a lightning flash
down her face and she's out of the Choctaw line..thus the name One Flashy Choctaw.

Flash has decided that humans aren't so bad. That is, once you get used to them petting
you. So, once again, we have created a monster that comes up, longing to be petted and
scratched in all the right places. Born August 15th of 2001 in Medicine Springs, Oklahoma,
Flash is one of the four Choctaw horses that came to the Rockin B Ranch in the fall of 2001.
This beautiful black and white paint filly is by Fish Camp Phantom (SSMA 2334) out of
Oklahoma Today (SSMA 795).

Flash went to a good friend of mine to be broke slow and gentle. She's a blast to ride, for
she's so smooth and willing. She will lead, trailer, stand quietly when tied and almost mug
you for some loving each time you go out in the pasture. Her intelligence really shines thru
each time you teach her something new....besides, her curiosity always gets the best of her,
so she ends up understanding what you ask of her - especially her round pen work.
