Born in February 1st, 2006, Chip is a fine dark bay gelding that stands tall as his sire at 14.2
hands at the age of two. Chip's by
PAINTED TIGER. His dam is our great old quarter horse mare, LIL
BIT.

Quite a character to be around, this guy's got a personality that just won't quit! We had some
visitors here at the ranch that have never been around horses, so they were a little concerned when Chip
came up asking for some loving...not to mention some cookies. Before the day was over, they got pictures
of Chip walking around in a baseball cap, parading around as if he knew he was something special. He was
particularly proud of how he could toss his head and make the baseball cap flop around drastically....and
make the other horses stop and stare. They knew that something was wrong, for Chip wasn't supposed to
have that thing attached to his head.
It was all great fun and Chip got
some extra cookies for being so well
mannered around the newcomers. Oh, and
I'll post the pics of Chip wearing that hat just
as soon as I can get them from those friends
of mine.
Sweeter than anything, Chip is a
big baby that picks up things quickly and is
easy to teach. He's got his ground work
done and we started him under saddle the
last week of September. After Chip's calm
attitude when taking a saddle for the first
time, David stood in one stirrup and let
Chip get used to the weight in the saddle.
It wasn't long before we had my grand daughter Kayson riding around on him. I got some really
nice video of Chip's first ride...and wouldn't you know, Kayson was all smiles!
Chip didn't even seem to mind anything that we did with him...he's such a great gelding. What
can I say? He can't help but be good natured. He gets that calmness from both
Painted Tiger (his sire) and
Lil' Bit (his dam).
