Blue Roan Mare Standing 14 hands Foaled: February 2004 Registered: Horse of the Americas Registered # 1528
|
Black that is so dark that it looks blue with a contrast
of white roan hairs scattered in, she is just that..."Beyond the
Blue". You can see her 'corn spot' markings and more
roaning has come in with her winter coat. Standing 14 hands
at the shoulder, Blue is astonishing. These pictures are pretty
good, but they just don't do her justice. Sorry, but her true
colors are something that can really only be enjoyed in
person. We expect her to mature to at least 14.2 hands if not
more by the time that she is seven.
Foaled in 2004, Blue is five years old and has never been
bred. She was started under saddle last Spring and has done
a handful of rides. When she came to our ranch last June we
had planned on throwing her in with our brood mares and
finish her training later. However, since that time was have
filled our brood herd to capacity, so looks like Blue will be
needing to find a new home. We started her training again as
if she had never been handled. This way we can fill any gaps
in her training before we start her back under saddle.
Now for the good stuff: Blue catches and halters easily,
leads, stands tied quietly, loads and round pens nicely. She's
got good ground manners and we've been working on
teaching her cues from the ground that will later be used as
leg cues while she's under saddle. A fast learner, Blues pretty
much got them down pat. She's still a little cautious about
bathes, but we're working on that. Been so cold that I
haven't been able to work on that part much. Then again, we
didn't think about putting her on the sale list until a few days
ago, so we will continue to work with her until she is sold.
Blue has a current coggins and is up to date on her shots
and worming. Her feet will be done on Friday (10-29) when
the farrier comes for his regular visit.
Tough as nails, she comes from a long line of color
producers that are well known for their endurance, feet of
iron, agility and eagerness to please. For those of you
interested, her bloodline is listed below. A rare find indeed,
this little lady has the bloodlines and color that makes people
drool. Blue would make a great horse for someone that's
wanting to spend a little time bonding with her.
